LUAP’s Murals extend his practice into architecture and the public realm, allowing imagery developed through Painting and Photography to operate at a different physical and social scale.
Each work responds to its setting, considering the character of the surrounding architecture, the history or identity of a place and the people who move through it. At this scale, the image becomes part of a shared environment, carrying ideas beyond the gallery and into everyday experience.
The Murals retain the psychological and surreal qualities of LUAP’s wider work while creating a more direct relationship with place and audience. They occupy a space between Fine Art, architecture and public encounter, using scale and context to give familiar imagery a new presence.
LUAP's latest creation, "Hope" graces Bateman’s Row in Shoreditch. This 12m x 6m mural depicts The Pink Bear slumped on a staircase, with a bouquet of flowers, and a blue background evoking a powerful sense of emotion.
I have worked with several cancer charities, both as an Artist and as a Creative Director. This is the second time I have worked with a charity which focuses on women with breast cancer, which is something close to my heart.
