Oil Painting forms a central part of LUAP’s practice, translating imagery developed through Photography into works that move between heightened realism and abstraction.
Figures and environments emerge with an almost photographic precision before dissolving into disrupted surfaces, expressive mark-making and shifts in colour and texture. Despite their photographic appearance, the works are entirely painted, allowing the tension between image and material to remain visible.
Often realised at significant scale, the Paintings transform real encounters into psychologically charged spaces in which memory, perception and emotion remain deliberately unresolved.
