Feels Like Home
Feels Like Home is an ongoing body of work exploring memory, belonging and the places that shape our sense of home.
Drawing on LUAP’s working-class upbringing and personal history, the series returns to familiar environments, everyday rituals and seemingly ordinary moments. These become a way of examining how memory attaches itself to places, objects and experiences, and how those associations continue to shape us over time.
The Pink Bear appears within these settings as both participant and observer. Its presence shifts the familiar slightly out of place, allowing humour, vulnerability and nostalgia to sit alongside one another.
Some works return directly to locations from LUAP’s childhood in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, including Golden Chips & The Three Bears, set around Steels fish and chip restaurant. But the experiences behind them, family routines, seaside trips, food, repetition, loss and the emotional weight of ordinary places, are intended to reach beyond one specific location.
