LUAP is the artistic identity of British contemporary artist Paul Robinson. His practice explores psychological states shaped by memory, personal history and internal contradiction, often through the recurring figure of The Pink Bear.
Moving between Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Performance and Installation, LUAP creates work that shifts from intimate individual pieces to large-scale interventions within landscapes, architecture and public space. Many works begin through real encounters with people and places, using the physical presence of The Pink Bear to create moments that sit somewhere between reality and the surreal.
Across the practice, humour and visual immediacy coexist with more complex ideas of identity, vulnerability, isolation and connection. The result is an evolving body of work in which a highly recognisable figure becomes a means of examining experiences that are deeply personal yet widely shared.

In my most recent adventure, I embarked on a journey across Mongolia that spanned 10 days, all on horseback, with the sole purpose of capturing new photographic artworks featuring The Pink Bear. This remote and uninhabited landscape, steeped in tradition yet facing the encroachment of modernity, served as the perfect backdrop for my mission.
