Life Lines
Life Lines is a series of large-scale portrait Paintings exploring the complexity of identity and the shifting nature of our inner lives. The fractured compositions suggest a self that is not fixed, but continually shaped by memory, experience and changing states of mind.
Each Painting develops from a photographic study made with the sitter, incorporating personal objects chosen for their emotional significance. These elements become part of the painted portrait, revealing something beyond physical likeness and creating a dialogue between what is visible and what is usually kept private.
Throughout the series, The Pink Bear moves away from its usual role as protagonist and becomes a quieter, protective presence. Life Lines is concerned with transformation, vulnerability and resilience, looking at fragmentation not as something broken, but as part of the process through which a sense of self is formed.
