LUAP contributes a Pink Bear Print to the inaugural Holiday House London, supporting breast cancer research through an art auction run by Christie’s.
Holiday House comes to London for the first time in 2017, taking over two houses in St John’s Wood with rooms created by interior designers alongside work by artists and makers.
The project was founded by Iris Dankner following her own experience of breast cancer, using design and art to raise funds for breast cancer research. For LUAP, the invitation carried a personal significance. His Nanna died from breast cancer when he was young, and the effect of that loss on his family made the cause particularly close to him.
LUAP contributed a Pink Bear Print to the Holiday House art auction organised with Christie’s, with funds raised through the project supporting breast cancer research.
The Pink Bear also appeared at the opening itself, becoming part of the evening rather than remaining solely within the donated artwork. Elizabeth Hurley, who has long been involved in breast cancer fundraising, was among the guests and later joked on social media that The Pink Bear had been her date for the night.
The moment added some of the humour associated with The Pink Bear to a project rooted in a serious cause, while the donated work formed part of the wider fundraising programme running throughout Holiday House London.
Holiday House London is open from 9 November to 10 December 2017.
