LUAP has completed Princess Road, a 250 × 310 cm Oil and Acrylic on Canvas Painting commissioned by Berkeley Group for The Regency Club at Camden Goods Yard in London.
At the centre of the Painting is The Pink Bear, surrounded by a group of figures. Princess Road explores the different lengths of time people remain in our lives. Some relationships last for decades, while others may exist only for an evening, a conversation, a song or a chance encounter. Their duration does not necessarily determine their importance, and even brief encounters can remain vivid in our memories long after they have passed.
The Painting also reflects on the contradiction of being surrounded by people while still feeling alone. We can be part of a group, share the same space and appear connected, yet still experience a sense of distance or isolation within ourselves. The Pink Bear sits within that tension as both participant and observer, physically present among others but never entirely absorbed by the group. Around it, individual expressions, gestures and glances suggest separate experiences taking place within the same moment.
That tension between belonging and solitude runs through LUAP’s wider practice, with The Pink Bear often positioned between connection and separation rather than fully belonging to either.
Painted in Oil and Acrylic, Princess Road combines closely observed figures with looser passages of colour, gesture and surface. The contrast keeps the social scene recognisable while allowing the process of Painting to remain visible.
Commissioned for The Regency Club at Camden Goods Yard, Princess Road remains centred on the relationships and inner experiences of the figures within it rather than the setting itself. Princess Road is permanently installed at The Regency Club, Camden Goods Yard, London.
