Trebuchet

Trebuchet follows The Pink Bear Pavilion from its development through to its installation at Altonaler Balkon in Hamburg, with two features by Sean Keenan examining the four-metre Sculpture, its construction and the personal history behind The Pink Bear.

The first article previews the Pavilion alongside the €250,000 LUAP Pink Bear Scholarship programme established with the University of Europe for Applied Sciences. Keenan’s later feature is written from Hamburg and looks more closely at the finished Sculpture, from its 3D-printed surface and timber structure to the deliberately ambiguous expression carried over from the original Pink Bear costume.

In the accompanying interview, LUAP describes the bear as something that once helped him connect with the world rather than hide from it. He sees the Pavilion as an extension of that idea, transforming what began as a personal safe space into a physical place that other people can enter and experience.
