Coming To Town

Coming To Town explores the psychological experience of moving through places shaped by people. Where LUAP’s work in nature considers our relationship with landscape, here the focus shifts towards cities, towns and interiors, and the ways these environments influence how we feel, behave and relate to one another.

The Pink Bear moves through streets, hotels, restaurants and shared spaces as both participant and observer. Each location carries the traces of the people who inhabit or pass through it, turning place into something emotional as well as physical. Encounters can create intimacy and belonging, while the same environments can heighten anonymity, isolation and the feeling of being outside looking in.

Through Photography, Painting and Public Art, the series considers how place and human connection become entangled. Our surroundings shape memory, relationships and our sense of ourselves, while the experiences we have within them gradually change what those places mean to us.
