Internal States
Internal States isolates the head of The Pink Bear and treats it as a recurring form in its own right. Removed from the body and from narrative, the familiar image becomes a formal constant through which LUAP can give physical presence to otherwise intangible psychological states.
Each iteration retains the same recognisable form while its scale, material, permanence and relationship to its surroundings change. What appears solid in one work may become fragile, inflated, eroded, architectural or temporary in another. These shifts alter how the form is encountered and what it is able to hold.
Repetition is fundamental to the series. By returning to the same image, LUAP creates continuity while allowing meaning to accumulate and change from one work to the next. Internal States remains deliberately open-ended, an evolving body of work in which a familiar form becomes a framework for examining how inner experience can be externalised, transformed and continually redefined.
